What is Solar PV?
A solar photovoltaic panel comprises multiple layers of semiconductor material, typically silicon. When light interacts with this material, it generates an electric current.
Contrary to popular belief, solar panels don't rely solely on direct sunlight for energy production.
They can generate electricity even on cloudy days and during winter months. The power output of a panel is influenced by the intensity of ultraviolet (UV) light, commonly referred to as sunshine.
UV light from the sun shines down and hits the solar photovoltaic panels.
Direct Current (DC) is created and power is sent down to the inverter.
The systems inverter changes DC current into AC current, ready to use.
Any surplus energy can be sent to a battery and stored in DC current.
Solar Panels Export Tariff
The Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) initiative, effective since January 2020, compensates homeowners and businesses across Great Britain for surplus renewable electricity they produce but don't consume. It replaces the former Feed-in Tariff (FIT) scheme, offering an updated mechanism for rewarding self-generated clean energy.
Under the SEG, households and businesses can sell excess energy back to the national grid, earning a payment for each kilowatt-hour (kWh) exported. Unlike the previous scheme, where the government provided subsidies, the SEG requires energy suppliers like British Gas to purchase surplus energy directly from customers. Each supplier offers a different rate for SEG, allowing consumers to compare rates and choose the most favorable option.
It's worth noting that to participate in the SEG, you must have an export meter installed. Additionally, if you're already benefiting from a Feed-in Tariff, you're ineligible for the Smart Export Guarantee.

We offer personalized quotes to ensure you have a clear understanding of all the costs and savings relevant to your unique circumstances.
Savings from solar panels can be substantial over the lifetime of your system. The exact amount you'll save depends on your local electricity rates, the size of your solar system, and your electricity usage. On average, homeowners can reduce their electricity bills by 50% to 90%. Any excess electricity your panels generate can be sold back to the grid, providing additional savings or credits on your bill. We offer a detailed analysis to estimate your potential savings based on your unique energy needs and local rates.
Choosing the right solar panels and system size is crucial for maximizing your investment. We begin by assessing your current electricity usage, roof space, sun exposure, and any shading on your property. Based on this evaluation, we recommend the most efficient and cost-effective solar panels and system size for your home. Our goal is to ensure your system meets your energy needs, fits your budget, and optimizes your return on investment.
Installing solar panels can significantly boost your home's value. Studies indicate that homes with solar panels sell for higher prices compared to those without them. The exact increase in value depends on factors such as your home's location, the size of your solar system, and current market trends. Additionally, solar panels can make your home more appealing to buyers, potentially leading to a faster sale. Solar warranties and incentives are often transferable to the new homeowner, adding even more value to your property.
